Overview

After School

School lets out, and the day is not over. Our after-school program gives school-age children a place to land from dismissal until 5:30 PM: a nutritious snack, a quiet place to finish homework with a teacher nearby, daily time outside to move, and a planned enrichment activity that changes with the day of the week. There is no formal classroom pressure here, and it is not meant to feel like a second school day. Children finish their responsibilities, build friendships, get a little more independent every week, and look forward to coming each afternoon.

How We Teach

How We Teach in Our After School Program

  • Learning encouraged without formal classroom pressure
  • Social and emotional growth through collaborative projects
  • Homework support from a teacher who guides and explains, and never simply hands over the answer
  • Independence fostered through skill exploration and responsibility for their own belongings and space
  • Physical health promoted through outdoor or active play every day conditions allow
  • Activities planned, age-appropriate, and set up before the first child walks in
  • Teachers on the floor with the children, actively supervising, not watching from the sidelines
  • Screens kept deliberately limited, so the afternoon stays hands-on and active
  • Friendships built across age groups
